Shrubs are a crucial part of any landscape foundation, lending structure to the flowing textures of the perennials in the design. Bountiful Gardens carries the largest selection of shrubs in the area, and many of them are quite hard to find!
Shrubs play a critical role in the lives of pollinators, with many of them offering rich nectar and pollen for our flighted friends. Many also produce either berries or seed clusters that fuel migratory birds along their journey. Did you know shrubs can be host plants too? For example, the adorable Spicebush Swallowtail relies on Spicebush for its entire lifecycle.
Our shrub selection includes species that can tackle any environmental condition from sun to shade, wet to dry, loamy or sandy--whatever you need, we've got you covered. When it comes to placement, it's totally up to you! We typically recommend nestling shrubs into your layered perennial landscape, creating focal points that help define the space. Be sure to keep height and spread in mind when designing! As you might imagine, the tallest shrubs should generally go toward the back of the design so they don't block other features.
