Snake Plant
Sanseveria

The Iron Plant: Sansevieria
Sansevierias are native to tropical Africa and are famous for their ability to survive in conditions that would make other plants throw in the towel. They are also champions of air purification, working the "night shift" by converting $CO_2$ into oxygen while you sleep.
Suggested Placement in the Home
The Bedroom: Because they release oxygen at night, they are the perfect bedside companions for a refreshing sleep environment.
The Dark Corner: While they prefer light, they are famous for tolerating low-light corners where almost nothing else will grow.
Modern Minimalism: Their upright, sword-like leaves look fantastic in tall, sleek ceramic pots in a hallway or living room.
Care & Maintenance
Dusting: Their wide, flat leaves act like dust magnets. Every month or so, give them a gentle wipe with a damp cloth so they can breathe and photosynthesize efficiently.
The "Neglect" Strategy: This plant thrives on being ignored. If you are a "helicopter plant parent," you might actually stress it out!
Repotting: They actually like being a bit root-bound. Only repot when the roots are literally starting to crack the plastic nursery pot.
The Essential Tip for Beginners
Water the Edge, Not the Heart: When you do water your Snake Plant, pour the water around the inside edge of the pot. Avoid getting water directly into the "cup" or center of the leaves. Water trapped in the center can cause the plant to rot from the inside out before you even notice something is wrong!
